Indigenous Peoples' Day
Mon, Oct 13, 2025

Indigenous Peoples' Day, is a holiday that celebrates and honors Indigenous Americans, and commemorates their histories, cultures, and contributions. Indigenous Peoples’ Day allows Native peoples and their perspectives to be centered and celebrated; it also gives non-Native people the chance to gain a better understanding of Native communities from all over the Americas and the Caribbean. This is a day to learn, observe, reflect and connect.

To that end, here are some ways you can observe Idigenous People’s Day at home:

  • Visit the Lenape Center to learn about Lenapehoking, the native Lanape land that includes New York City and New Rochelle, or watch the video here

For our land acknowledgment, we understand that all of New Rochelle is on the ancestral territory of the Munsee Lenape Indigenous people.
